A Leader in Eco-Tourism
Corozalito is a hidden paradise committed to protecting its natural beauty and promoting sustainable tourism. Visitors can feel good knowing they are supporting a community dedicated to conservation and responsible travel. Two key organizations, CREMA and the Asociación de Desarrollo Integral (ADI) de Corozalito, lead local efforts to preserve the environment and protect endangered wildlife.

Sea Turtle Protection
CREMA has been working in Corozalito since 2008 to protect endangered sea turtles that nest on its beaches. During nesting season, trained staff and volunteers patrol the beach at night, collecting data, relocating vulnerable nests to a protected hatchery, and ensuring hatchlings safely reach the ocean. CREMA also conducts scientific research, educates the community, and offers responsible turtle-watching experiences for visitors. By following eco-friendly guidelines, tourists can witness this incredible natural event while supporting conservation.
CREMA’s 2024-2025 season data reflects the ongoing commitment to conservation and provides insights into the success of protection efforts.

The Bandera Azul Ecological Initiative
The ADI de Corozalito leads the community’s efforts in sustainable tourism and environmental protection. One of its top priorities is maintaining Corozalito’s Bandera Azul Ecológica certification, a national recognition for beaches that meet high environmental standards. The ADI is actively working to increase this certification from one star to three stars, demonstrating an even stronger commitment to sustainability.
To achieve this, the ADI organizes beach cleanups, promotes waste management programs, and encourages responsible tourism practices. Through eco-education initiatives, the ADI ensures that both locals and visitors understand the importance of conservation and their role in keeping Corozalito pristine.
